    Player to Watch: Chris Thompson

Chris Thompson won the starting quarterback job at Sweetwater last season and started out strong, unfortunately he suffered an injury but fought and worked his way back to get even better for the 2016 season.

"Over the spring he's gotten healthy, he's back almost 100% right now," head coach Shane Mobley said. "His timing routes, and all his throwing and stuff is great, so the big thing right now is listening to him correct his receivers and telling them how you need to do this and we need to that."

So Mobley likes the leadership he is seeing, and Thompson is still focusing on how he can get better.

"I'm trying to improve all assets of my game and just help my team out to raise the bar, and just help out more and be a leader," Thompson said.

Mobley is looking forward to this season and the future with Thompson at quarterback.

Mobley said, "He's going to play that major role of being that vocal point on offense, and we're going to do a lot of stuff based around Thompson, so we're very very excited about that. You know, his future's bright. He's got some coaches, some schools already looking at him."

It seems like Mobley can't speak highly enough of Thompson. Even his character stands out.

"Great kid, you know, takes care of his class work," Mobley said. "Takes care of his business off the field and on the field, and I'm very very proud of him, and very honored to have him and be able to say, hey, I'm his coach."

Thompson's goal? I bet you can guess.

"State. I think that's everyone out here," Thompson said.

Chris Thompson is a BCH Sports Player to Watch.
