BCH Sports Top Match Ups: No. 7 - No. 9

Abilene High, Sweetwater, and Clyde are featured in games 7, 8, and 9 of the BCH Sports Top Match Ups of the 2016 football season.

The Abilene High Eagles are playing in Game 9 of our countdown against Keller Fossil Ridge. The Eagles enter a new era this year. The UIL moved them to a district with the Keller schools, Weatherford, and Haltom, and the Eagles are the favorites to win the district with Fossil Ridge coming in 2nd. BCH Sports Player to Watch Abram Smith leads a group of eleven starters that return from 2015's playoff team, and the Eagles are planning to return to the Class 6A playoffs as district champions.

Top Match Up number 8 is District 2-4A Division II showdown between 2015 district champion Sweetwater and district runner-up Monahans. Head coach Shane Mobley and his Mustangs are the favorites to claim their second straight championship. BCH Sports Player to Watch Chris Thompson returns under center after he helped lead his team to a 12-1 record. The Sweetwater offense is contrasted in this game by the ground and pound approach Monahans brings to the game. Mickey Owens team likes the run the ball, and the Mustangs defense has to find a way to slow things down to win this Week 10 match up at the Mustang Bowl.

Week 11 brings us Top Match Up number 7 in our countdown. Brady comes to Clyde in a dogfight that could decide the championship in District 3-3A Division I. Clyde comes into the 2016 season as the number two pick in district with 8 positions filled with starters, including BCH Sports Player to Watch Tanner Riley. Brady returns both lines and will lean on them to start the year. If this year's game is half as good as they 2015 version, we have it too low on the countdown. The Bulldogs scored late in the game to top Brady, 35-34. Their Week 11 meeting should send us into the playoffs in style.
