    ACHS Begins Olvera Era

The Ysmael Olvera era is underway over at Abilene Christian High School.

Olvera takes over an ACHS team that went to the playoffs in 2015, but won just four of eleven games.

One of the big changes this offseason was the addition of crossfit training to the routine.

It was hard, but the players think it will pay off in the end.

Jace Usrey said, "Our endurance is going to be better than any other team out there, and that's what's going to help us. We're not the biggest, we're not the strongest, but we'll definitely be the fastest out there."

Ysmael Olvera said, "We actually condition out here on the field, go through all our plays, and then we go right into a weight session on top of that, so we want to keep the strength aspect a big part of our football program."

Grant Wade said, "Fast teams are hard to tackle and hard to get to quickly because all their speed across the field, and so as a team, spread the field faster and get the ball away from the quarterback."

The Panther open the regular season in Abilene against Weatherford Christian on Saturday, August 27.
