    Cougars Excited for Experience

The Cooper Cougars took the field for the first time bright and early on Monday morning.

Head coach Todd Moebes' team is loaded with returning starters this season.

Seven are back on offense, and eight are back on defense.

That's a total of 15 and gives Cooper a leg up right out of the gates.

Cooper quarterback Austin Smith said, "It builds a lot of confidence, a lot of trust with these guys, and just knowing that you've already played with these guys and knowing that they are just going to ball out. They're going to ball out no matter what, and they're just going to move the ball down the field."

Head coach Todd Moebes said, "You can't replace it. There's nothing that replaces experience regardless of if it's a player or our staff. Our staff is fairly intact from a year ago. They're a lot more confident in what they're doing and with the experience we've got coming back within our guys on offense and defense and even in the kicking game. It's something that you can't replace."

The Cougars first game action is a scrimmage against San Angelo Central in San Angelo next Friday.

The season starts at home against Keller on August 26.
