The Ballinger Bearcats enter the second year of the David Jones era with a good deal of confidence.
Ballinger made a four game improvement in the first year Coach Jones was the head coach. That's really good, but he's telling us and the rest of his team that it's just the tip of the iceberg, and that they should have their goals set higher this year.
David Jones said, "We improved from 2-8 to 6-5 last year, and it was a first round exit in the playoffs. Our talk and our conversation with the kids has been all about that 6-5 is just one notch above average, and that's not what we're about. We want to make deep playoff runs and play football into December, and that's been our goal, and we don't hesitate to talk to the kids about that too."
The Bearcats are in a new district this year with Sonora, Reagan County, Alpine and San Angelo TLC, and Texas football predicts they will finish 3rd.
