The Hardin-Simmons Cowboys have also started practice and are ready to get their season going.
A big issue for the Cowboys could be replacing the defensive line, but one thing head coach Jesse Burleson can count on is that his returning guys hope to lead the new comers, and the returners have much needed experience.
Ryan Breton is one of those guys, and he and coach Burleson want the younger guys to know that they're going to need to step up pretty quickly.
"Having that leadership, having that experience, having guys at each position that have played in meaningful games, not just played, but played whenever it counted and mattered. That makes all the difference in the world," Burleson said. "That makes our younger guys understand that they better step up, we're not slowing down. We're full speed ahead, and we're really excited about that too."
"I'm going to do my best to get those young guys coming along, get them involved, and make them feel like they're a part of the family because they are," Breton said. "Starting day one we're all Cowboy brothers and that's the goal is to get them along and get them moving."
The Cowboys' preseason camp continues Sunday afternoon.
