Cowboys Preseason Week 1 in the Books

The Cowboys opened the preseason in a big way on Saturday night at the Los Angeles Coliseum with Lucky Whitehead stunning the capacity crowd with a 101-yard kickoff return 13 seconds into the game.

The Rams ultimately got the 28-24 win, but the boys did have plenty of positives to note, like the performance of Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys offensive line is proving to be one of the gems of this team going into the 2016-2017 season, but if all eyes weren't already on fourth-round draft pick, they certainly are now after week one of the preseason.

"Dak did a really good job he played with poise," Jason Garrett said. "He played with composure. He handled himself really well the mechanics of the game managed the game well there were a lot of positives"

Prescott completed 10 of his 12 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. While Jameill Showers was eight of 16 for 99 yards.

"You know some guys handle it really well," Garrett said. "Some guys their blood pressure stays the same. They're calm. They go out and execute just like it's the practice field here in Oxnard. Other guys maybe they don't handle it quite as well but it's a good learning experience for them."

Rookie runningback Ezekiel Elliiot was back in action today for the first time since August 2 when he was sidelined with a hamstring injury.

"We'll ease him back into practice it'll be individual today we'll take tomorrow as it comes," Garrett said.

With Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar on the non-football injury list, Lucky Whitehead, Alfred Morris and rookie Darius Jackson have been carrying most of the load in rushing.

"Best O-line in the game," Jackson said. "I felt really comfortable back there the key with that O-line is patience as long as you're patient you're going to get your yards."

But when the regular season begins, Elliott is looking to bring the star power he had at Ohio State to the Lone Star State.

The Cowboys have one day left of practice in Oxnard. They head back to Dallas on the 18 where they will open their new facility, the Star in Frisco, and on Friday they host the Miami Dolphins for preseason game number two.
