Anson Looks For Deeper Run In 2016

District. 4-2A Division I is a loaded district.

All five teams went to the playoffs in 2015, and the Anson Tigers went the farthest with a run to the third round.

Head coach Chris Hagler's team returns four starters on offense and five on defense from that group, so expectations are understandably high.

That said, coach Hagler and the players don't think going to the third round is good enough.

Coach Chris Hagler said, "We look like we're going to be pretty good skill wise. We've got some experience going three rounds last year. We're going to try to not hang our hat on that, like that's all we wanna get to. We've got our standards set a little higher this year."

Cade Baker said, "We're going to be working on our quick game, hopefully we can make the defenses of the other team really tired so we can beat them."

Trell Thomson said, "We want our offense to be really fast. We worked on it a lot last year, and since we have a lot of returners this year, we know what to do."

One of the key returners is quarterback Cade Baker.

He threw for 2,360 yards in 2015.

They start the season on August 25 at Shotwell Stadium against Hamlin in the opening game of the Champions Classic.
