The Brownwood Lions are getting ready to start the Kyle Maxfield era on Friday up in Lubbock.
Maxfield takes over a program that advanced to the Class 4A Division I quarterfinals in 2015.
So, the program is on good footing.
Maxfield wants to make it even better this year.
"It's game week so we can't let a day slip by, we're trying to get better each and every day," Brownwood head coach Kyle Maxfield said. "They had a really successful season, went to the quarterfinals, were 11-3, so there's still some residue left from that, and of course the tradition here. We're trying to build on that tradition and build off of last season. It's a big task, we've got some returning starters coming back but we've got some new guys that it's going to be their first Friday night under the lights so we're looking forward to seeing what they can do."
Maxfield and the Lions play Canyon up in Lubbock at Cooper High School to start things on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
