The Champions Classic wrapped up with a 6-man matchup Saturday night with Abilene Christian taking on Weatherford Christian at Shotwell Stadium in some rain.
Abilene Christian got it going right off the bat when Logan Cole surprised Austin Norman bringing him to the ground for a loss of ten on the play.
However, Weatherford Christian responded in a big way, with this 15 yard pass to Ryan Ellisor. He juked out a Panther defender to get into the end zone. The extra point makes it 8-0 Lions.
ACHS would not be stopped though. A toss back to quarterback Jace Usrey, and he threw a 35-yard bomb right into the hands of Cole Snodgrass. Snodgrasss was brought down at the 1 yard line setting the Panthers up for a one yard touchdown run by Snodgrass to finish the drive.
That brings the score to 14-8 WCHS leading.
Abilene Christian fell to Weatherford Christian in the end, so their season opener ends 46-42.
The Panthers travel to Whitharral next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
