The Cooper Cougars got the 2016 season off to a good start with a rain-shortened sixteen point victory over Keller on Friday night.
The Cougars defense is expected to be excellent this season, and they had a good game against Keller,
The "D" was able to stifle the Indians offense and allowed only one touchdown drive.
Cooper head coach Todd Moebes said, "We made them earn it. You don't want to let them get in the end zone. Very next series, we were in the exact same position and ended up going three and out and blocking the field goal, which was huge momentum shift for us, but I think we played well. Our fits were a little bit off, which is pretty standard for a first game. We've got to clean some of that stuff up and continue to keep getting better."
The Cougars are headed out on the road for the first time in the young season this week.
They go east to the Metroplex to take on Grapevine.
That game will kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
