The Abilene High Eagles ran into a buzz saw to open the season on Friday night.
Head coach Del Van Cox's team lost to San Angelo Central, 63-26.
It was a rough night for the Eagles, but it wasn't anything they can't recover from.
The key is to diagnose the flaws, and fix them before they take the field again on Friday night.
"They are paying a little more attention to detail and making sure that we are doing things exactly the way we are supposed to," Cox said. "So, it's definitely going to be a lot better performance on Friday night. One game doesn't define your whole season. We've still got the same goals that we can accomplish. We've still got the same ability to accomplish them, a district championship and make a good long run in the playoffs toward a state championship."
The Eagles take the field on Friday night with another chance to pick up their first win of the season.
Abilene High hosts Midland Lee at Shotwell Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
