The ACU Wildcats start the 2016 season on Saturday against the Air Force Academy.
De'Andre Brown is one of the playoffs that will lead the Wildcats onto the field, and he is one of the only known commodities on the offensive side of the ball.
He's got eight career 100-yard games in two seasons, and the Wildcats are hoping he can add to that total this year.
Head coach Ken Collums said, "De'Andre, he is the core of our offense, and he's going to have to be productive. You've got a fairly new quarterback, and a new or young quarterback's best friend is not necessarily the wide receivers, it's the running back, because that's what creates the one-on-one's out wide, it makes those throws a little bit easier if the defense knows, 'hey, they've got this De'Andre guy, and we've got to stop him.' So De'Andre is a leader, he's a wonderful person, very humble, but a fierce competitor. We've just got to do a better job this year of giving him some consistent looks up front so we can run the ball up better."
In 2016, Brown rushed for over 800 yards for ACU while splitting time in the backfield.
The season starts for Brown and the Wildcats on Saturday in Colorado Springs.
They play the Air Force Academy at 1 p.m.
