Abilene High comes into the 56th annual Crosstown Showdown with some momentum. The Eagles topped Midland Lee for their first win of the season.
Now it's time for the most meaningful non-district game of the season, Abilene High vs. Cooper.
It's only for bragging rights, but bragging rights is a good enough reason for the Eagles to want to come out with the win.
Head coach Del Van Cox, "The big thing about this is the bragging rights for the town that the kids get to talk about, but more inportantly, as a football team, it's a chance to get into a big atmosphere. With lots of fans and lots of crowd and make sure you handle the pressure and be able to handle the things that you are supposed to be successful."
The Crosstown Showdown is Friday night at Shotwell Stadium. Cooper leads the overall series, 32-22-1. Abilene High has won four of the last five. They kickoff at 7:30.
