FRISCO, Texas - Abilene Christian sophomore quarterback Dallas Sealey, Nicholls sophomore defensive lineman Kenny Dotson and Stephen F. Austin freshman kicker Storm Ruiz earned Southland Conference Football Player of the Week honors presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league office announced Monday. Sealey took offensive honors while Dotson was named defensive player of the week and Ruiz was tabbed the top special teams player.
Offensive Player of the Week: Dallas Sealey, Abilene Christian
Sealey had the best game of his early career as he posted career-highs in completions (25), passing yards (313), rushing yards (97) and rushing touchdowns (four) in Abilene Christian's 55-52 loss to Northern Colorado. The sophomore from Lawton, Okla. (Lawton H.S.), scored on touchdown runs of 49, 1, 2 and 1 yards as he helped the Wildcats erase a 28-7 second quarter deficit to take a 49-48 lead late in the third. He is the first ACU quarterback to rush for four touchdowns in one game. Sealey was also named later Monday an honorable mention selection for STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, and he was selected as a finalist for the HERO National Offensive Player of the Week award.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kenny Dotson, Nicholls
Dotson was one of several Nicholls' defensive players to have a huge game for the Colonels in their 26-24 near upset at No. 9 Georgia. The sophomore from Plaquemine, La. (Plaquemine H.S.), helped the Colonels hold All-America running back Nick Chubb to only 80 yards on 20 carries. Dotson forced a fumble late in the second quarter which led to Nicholls' first touchdown of the game. He finished with five total tackles and a sack.
Honorable Mention: Garrett Dolan, Houston Baptist; John Franklin, Stephen F. Austin; Terrence Partee, Central Arkansas.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Storm Ruiz, Stephen F. Austin
Ruiz, a freshman kicker from League City, Texas (Clear Springs H.S.), played a major role in Stephen F. Austin's 30-24 win over West Alabama. Ruiz scored 12 points for the Lumberjacks as he was a perfect 3-for-3 in PATs while connecting on all three of his field goal attempts. He recorded a career-long of 43 yards before connecting on kicks of 32 and 30 yards.
Honorable Mention: Terrance Manderville, Houston Baptist; Trent Manuel, McNeese; Shawn Stephens, Northwestern State.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
