Eagles Happy with Friday's Offensive Performance

David Robinett talked to Abilene High head coach Del Van Cox about his team's performance Friday in the Crosstown Showdown.

David Robinett said, "Thanks a lot. Standing by with Abilene High head coach Del Van Cox, and coach Cox, a nice victory in the Crosstown Showdown over Cooper. A ton of points for your offense, and of course your defense gave up a bunch of points too, which I know you're not probably particularly happy with, but let's talk about the offense, the way they performed."

Del Van Cox said, "You know they're getting better at it each and every week, and trying to find the things that we do well and execute well at a fast pace. That's the key to being a good offensive team is to find out what you do well."

Robinett said, "Abram Smith, man alive, we've talked about him for three or four years now, but that was his best performance at least as far as finding the endzone."

Cox said, "He's a great player, and we're excited about what he's going to do this year, and the accomplishments that he's going to have, and he's going to be fun to watch."

Robinett said, "Let's talk about the offensive line real quick too. Those guys gave him gaping holes on most of the touchdowns."

Cox said, "Yeah you can't have a great running back that does really good things like that, and then your quarterback does really good things without having some guys doing some good things up front, so those guys are definitely, they're getting better each week, and it's going to be exciting on offense."

Robinett said, "Alright the Abilene High Eagles are going to be playing the Odessa High Broncos this Friday. It's the fourth game of the season, another former district rival on the schedule."
