Homecoming an Important Tradition at Wylie

The Wylie Bulldogs are getting back to work this week after their Week 4 game with Argyle was canceled because of bad weather.

This week, head coach Hugh Sandifer and his team are preparing for their Homecoming game against Brownfield. Homecoming is an important week for the Bulldogs because all of the alumni come back to check on the program, and the current Bulldogs want to show the old-timers that the program is in good hands.

"It really kind of puts it in perspective of how big the Wylie tradition is, and how amazing the team can be, and how amazing the fans can be," Kyler Bone said.

"We embrace it.We make a big deal out of it," Sandifer said. "You know we talk about past teams. This is the only time of year we do that. We never compare them, but this is the only time we really talk about them. We put the pictures up of the last 30 years of teams and let them see that there were guys wearing those numbers before they did, and they owe it to those guys to play at a high level."

"Yeah homecoming's a fun time," Tyler Henson said. "We'll see all of our past teammates and friends, and it'll be kind of like the Argyle game. It'll be packed, and we'll be ready to go."

The Bulldogs face Brownfield Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. Wylie is 2-1 on the season. The Cubs enter the game still looking for their first win of the season.
