Defense Helps Coogs Ignite Comeback Win

Cooper head coach Todd Moebes and his Cougars started slow against Frenship, but after halftime, they woke up in a big way to win, 28-25.

The offense found the end zone three times and the defense held the tigers to just 78 yards.

It took a while, but coach Moebes says it was good to see the way his guys bounced back.

"You know kind of calm them down. We've been in this situation before," Moebes said. "We've got to stop the bleeding somehow. I thought we moved the ball well offensively. Defensively we didn't play very well. Frenship had a lot to do with that. We knew they were a good football team, and just we needed to make a play. I thought Rueben Perez made a big hit being able to separate a pass from a guy that was running down the seam, and I think that really kind of ignited us."

The Cougars finish up their non-district schedule on Friday night.

They are at home for their first ever meeting with Austin Bowie.
