Eagles Not Phased by Rain Delay

David Robinett talked to Abilene High head coach Del Van Cox about Friday's late start and getting ready to start district play.

David Robinett said, "Coach Cox, it took you a while to ge the game started, but once ya'll did start, man alive, your players were ready to go."

Del Van Cox said, "I was really proud of the way our kids responded to the delay, and they did a good job of maintaining their focus, and being ready to go when it was time."

Robinett said, "How hard is that to keep a team focused when they're having to sit around for an hour and a half waiting for something to happen. Is it on the coaches, or is it on the players, or is it a little of both?"

Cox said, "A little of both. We just got them in there and set them down and kind of told the captains to be in control a little bit, and they did a great job, and they were ready to play when they came out. It's a hard situation because you have no idea how long you're going to be in there, so they definitely handled it well."

Robinett said, "Alright district time. How good does it feel to be in a position now where you're playing for something rather than just preparation?"

Cox said, "Well I mean you put in lots of work. All these coaches and players put in, you know they've been working since January for this time, and now their record's 0-0, so all that work is coming to a head this Friday."
