    Eagles O-Line Growing Together

The Abilene High Eagles are getting ready to open district 3-6A play Friday night over in the Metroplex. The Eagles offensive line started the season as a real question mark, since most of it was new, and after a slow start they are getting things together.

They are opening huge holes for Abram Smith and protecting quarterback Peyton Killam, in other words, they are doing their job.

Michael Martinez said, "We started off where that first game didn't go too well on our side, so we just came together after that and decided that we're going to make a change, and it all starts with us."

Sammy Renteria said, "We really work as a team, and our work ethic has changed a lot, considering that rough game to start the season."

Martinez said, "During practice we just help each other out, pick each other up whenever we're down, and eating together at Peyton's house every week helps a lot too."

Renteria said, "We have a couple starters so they guys that don't know as much, we try to help them as much as we can and tell them where to go, what to do, and make sure they're not nervous and tell them it's just football, play the game that you love."

District 3-6A play starts on Friday, Abilene High is 3-1 and Haltom is 3-1. They meet at the Birdville Fine Arts and Athletic Complex at 7:30.
