    AHS Staying Focused

The Abilene High Eagles are heading into the third week of district 3-6A play, and they seem to be cruising right along with a 2-0 record. They are also riding a five-game winning streak.

They seem to be the class of the district after dominating Fossil Ridge last week, so it would be easy for the Eagles to kick it back a little and coast to the playoffs.

Some teams might do that, but not the 2016 Abilene High Eagles.

Sammy Renteria said, "We work on being contenders and not pretenders, we work on focusing and keeping everything the right way and practicing at a fast pace so when we get to the game we know what the speed is and we can play at the pace we practice at every day."

Terrell Franklin said, "We just practice the little things, just make them better, execute our plays and we just have to go out there and show them what to do."

Bryce McGough said, "It's mental focus. Coach Cox is always preaching about mental focus and that's all we've been really focusing on, how we can get into the game and make sure we're doing everything right."

Abilene High hits the road this week to Keller to take on the Central Chargers. Central enters the game with a 1-0 district mark.
