Warren's Wisdom: Up and Down Opponents

Steve Warren and David Robinett talk about going from playing a state ranked team to a winless team.

David Robinett said, "It is time for another Warren's Wisdom here in the Bigcountryhomepage.com Sportscenter. Coach Warren, you've just played a really good football team, like Wylie did. It's the top two teams in the district. Now you are going to play a team that hasn't won a game this year. How do you get your guys to stay focused and play the game?"

Steve Warren said, "It comes with a lot of experience. The man that runs the show out there at Wylie does a great job of that, but in general, the head coach has to set the tone the first thing. The first time he sees the players, whether it's Monday morning or Saturday morning, and remind them of the goal you have. That didn't achieve the goal of making the playoffs or winning a district championship. That just got you to the next step, and the next step is continuing to play better and continuing to get better. You see it in the news media every time these coaches talking about we got to play better. We got to practice better. We've got to keep getting better. That's an old cliche, but it's absolutely the truth, and it all starts at the top with the head coach setting the tone to start the week."

David Robinett said, "We will see what's happening this Friday when Wylie takes on Big Spring and all of the other games that are going on."
