Every Game is Important for Wylie

Head coach Hugh Sandifer and his Bulldogs opened up District 3-4A Division I with a convincing 22-point victory over state-ranked Brownwood on Friday night.

The Bulldogs gained almost 400 yards on their way to the victory. Now they turn their attention to Big Spring.

The Steers come into the game without a victory this year, so after playing a state-ranked team, how do the Bulldogs maintain focus against a winless team this week?

"Well I think teams that have maturity understand that each game has the same importance in district, and that's the way we look at it. It's another district championship game this Friday night," Sandifer said. "You know we have goals, and we haven't accomplished any goals, so we're still working for those. We don't get caught up in who we're playing or rankings or anything like that. We just know you got play, and that game's the most important one. Now you got to have maturity. You can't have distractions. You just have to go execute, but if you have enough pride and enough passion in what you're doing, then you're going to play hard for your teammates."

We will see how they handle the week. Wylie is at home for this one. They face the Steers at Bulldog Stadium at 7:30 on Friday night.
