4th Down Play Pays Off for Cooper

The Cooper Cougars scored the winning touchdown against Lubbock Monterey with just over two minutes to go in the game, but one of the key plays happened before that.

Cooper converted a fourth and four when Tyrees Whitfield ran for seven yards. Running the ball in that situation is really unusual, but it worked, and Cooper went on to get the win.

"As soon as Coach Wolff thought that was the best play for us. I put all the confidence in them. I don't second guess them. I am real proud of being able to have confidence in the play," head coach Todd Moebes said. "That's one our staple plays that we run. Guys did a great job of being able to execute it. All we needed was four yards and few inches and we ended up getting about eight."

Cooper continues district play with state-ranked and undefeated Lubbock Cooper on Friday night in the Lubbock area.

The two teams split the last two meetings.
