    Wellington Is Next For Hamlin

The Hamlin Pied Pipers are one of the four Big Country schools that are still alive and kicking in Class 2A Division II.

Hamlin is getting ready to take on panhandle power Wellington on Friday.

The Rockets have been to the playoffs every year since 2008 and are 11-1 this year.

The Pipers know they are in for a fight.

Coach Russell Lucas said, "They know that it's a big week, when you get to this point they know that every team's good, and that includes them. They know that they deserve to be here. This time of year team's usually get better."

Justin Kiser said, "We need to execute a little more on offense, the way our defense is playing I think as long as they keep playing like that, we'll be good."

Nick Hall said, "We're just excited about all the hype that this game has. They're expecting Wellington to win, most of them, so it's just going to be fun to go out and be the underdog and be able to beat the number 7 team in the state if we can."

Dustin Kiser said, "It gives us more of an urge to go out and prove them wrong."

Hamlin and Wellington meet on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The game is being played in Vernon.
