Eagles Ready to Face District Challenges

High school baseball is starting to heat up and Abilene High, Cooper and Wylie are all coming off of good weekends at the AISD Tournament.

The Eagles start district Tuesday afternoon, and this year's district looks different. Now they'll face all of the Keller schools.

The eagles are not overlooking this shift either. They know the kind of competition that the Dallas schools can bring, and they're preparing for it and know they're going to have to bring their a-game throughout district play.

Head coach Ryan Lewis said, "We're going to have to play a lot better baseball coming up. I think, in order to give ourselves a chance in this district because there are some really talented teams and we're going to definitely have to play better defensively, and we're definitely going to have to hit the ball a little bit better."

Matthew Carroll said, "Oh we're ready. I mean we all know they got good competition over in Dallas, but we've been putting in a lot of work."

"We're going to face some good competition this year," Terrell Franklin said. "All the Keller teams and stuff up there, and we're just looking forward to doing pretty good."

District starts Tuesday for the Eagles with a matchup at Haltom at 12.
