Cats Work to be More Physical in Spring Practice

The ACU Wildcats are in the final week of spring football practice.

Head coach Adam Dorrell went into the spring with several goals in mind. One of them was to make the team much more physical and violent which got the attention of the linemen.

On the play ground that's not good, but that's how you win games on the football field.

Dorrel said, "The thing that you're always trying to get done is set some really concrete goals that you're trying to get. In my opinion you don't try to be too broad with what you're trying to do, but you try to focus in on a few things like the physicality, and certainly we have more help coming, but with the guys we have here we're just trying to get them focused on being physical."

Riley Mayfield said, "It makes it a lot more fun for us. Especially because we're not a big glory position. Getting to go out there and actually push people around, that's something big for us. It makes it all a lot more fun."

The Wildcats final spring practice is Tuesday at Action Sports.

They close the spring with a scrimmage at Shotwell Friday night at 6.
