Lions Aren't Resting Before State Semis

The Albany Lions are headed to the state tournament for the first time in school history after sweeping West Texas last week.

Sometimes, a team can be satisfied with just getting to state when they've never been there before, but this is not the Lions' approach.

Head coach David Fairchild says his guys have some work to do down in Round Rock.

"We come back on Monday, and we'll get back on the field and get back in the cages. Do some hitting, make sure our arms stay live, then we'll travel down Tuesday and get a short practice in and get ready to go," Fairchild said.

Hunter Owen said, "I think it's going to happen so fast we really won't get a chance to process it. So I mean we'll have a couple days of practice then go down there and it's just going to be a lot of fun for us."

Roman Fuentes said, "Well we're going to enjoy this win first off, but we know what we have to do. We know we have two more games to win and so we're going to go back and we're just going to keep swinging the bats and keep working on the fundamentals and just be out in the field and just work hard, because we know that we have two more games win and that we can't stop now."

The Lions take on Muenster on Wednesday in Round Rock. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
