    Lions Have Well-Rounded Offense

In class 2A, the Albany Lions are in the regional final round, and offensively they're firing on all cylinders.

In Saturday's win over Post, the Lions didn't just have the big hits, they also executed two squeeze plays and had several key walks, so right now they're doing things right at the plate.

Roman Fuentes said, "We're very confident in all that. Hitting, whether it's bunting. We work a lot on all the fundamentals in practice. We work it everyday, so whenever we get out to the field we have a lot of confidence that we're going to execute it and get it done."

Head coach David Fairchild said, "I mean that's one thing I was wanting to get, you know we strive to do. We want to be able to hit the ball, and we do have some hitters, but we've got to also be able to play small ball a little bit, and we was able to do that, and that's what keeps defenses off balance. They know we can play the small ball and have to sit back on some of the bunts, but then we also got some guys that can swing the bat too, so that's good for our team."

Albany starts their region finals series against West Texas on Thursday out at Lubbock Christian.

Game one is at 5 p.m. and game two is Friday at noon.
