    Wylie Junior League making history

The Wylie Junior League all-stars made it out of the state tournament, and they're leaving for the junior league baseball southwest regional tournament in New Mexico this week.

This is the first time in Wylie little league history that a team has ever made it out of state, so the guys are excited that they're still playing ball, but they say that it's all still pretty surreal.

Riley Hood said, "It means a lot because we start playing here since we were 5, 6, at machine pitch and tee ball. Kept on moving up, tried year after year to get farther and farther but we never really got where we wanted to be. Finally we said this is the year we're going to do and sure enough that will be our last game ever to play on a Wylie field and to win a state championship on so that's a pretty great feeling."

Reed Hughes said, "It's pretty great, pretty great experience getting here, and to be the first team to ever do it is pretty awesome."

Cooper Cothran said, "It's there, but it's hard to believe. It's hard to believe that that's happened. It's just crazy to think that we're the first ones out of how long this league has been here."

The Wylie juniors play in the regional tournament in Santa Fe, and games start on Thursday.
