LEXINGTON, Ky. - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with its Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 school year.
The award was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year and honors the top high school and collegiate volleyballs teams that displayed excellence in the classroom. Teams had to have cumulative 3.30 grade point average to make the squad.
Division III had 150 teams makes the list this year, which was the most of any collegiate division. NCAA Division I had 145, Division II 118 and NAIA 51.
Hardin-Simmons had a cumulative 3.47 for the year for its 18-member team.
