Wylie JR League Wins State Championship

The Wylie Junior League All-Stars fought back through the losers' bracket of the Texas West State Little League Tournament to win the state championship on Tuesday.

Wylie had to beat Alice American twice on Tuesday to clinch the championship, and they won game one in a big way.

The Bulldogs started from behind but tied the game up at four with a strong third inning, and then proceeded to beat Alice American 17-7 to force a winner-take-all game.

That one was much closer. Wylie led 2-1 going into the seventh inning and then added an insurance run before shutting down Alice American in the bottom of the seventh.

Wylie beat Alice American 3-1 to win the Junior League State Championship.

    With the win they advance.

The Wylie 9-11 year olds also fought back through the losers' bracket in hopes of winning a championship, but came up short in Tuesday's championship game.

The Bulldogs lost to McAllister Park Tuesday morning, but didn't go down without a fight.

After falling behind 2-0 early in the game, Wylie fought back to keep it close, but they weren't able to do enough.

McAllister Park won the 9-11 Texas West State Championship beating Wylie 16-8.
