3 Wylie All-Star teams fight to stay alive

Three Abilene teams are still alive in the Texas West State Little League Tournament, but all three were trying to avoid elimination Monday night.

The Wylie 9-11 All-Stars took on Midland Northern, and this one was low scoring.

Chase Irby had a nice day on the mound. He got AJ Valarde to go down swinging to end the first inning, and that was just one of several strikeouts.

Then Wylie got it done in the third. Tye Briscoe ripped it up the middle. One run scored, and Wylie tried to get another, but he was gunned down at home. Wylie led 1-0.

And that was how this one ended, with one run and a Midland Northern shutout.

Wylie advances with a 1-0 victory. They take on McAllister Park Tuesday morning at 9.

The Wylie Junior League All-Stars played Kerrville in an elimination game Monday night.

Wylie jumped out to a lead in the first when Riley Hood ripped a liner to center bringing two runs home, so Wylie led 2-0, but they were far from done scoring.

They had a big second inning. After scoring some runs, Landon Williams added to it with a base knock down the right field line. That scored some runs and it was 6-0.

Wylie led 8-0 after two innings, and added even more before finally getting the win.

    They beat Kerrville 14-0.

They play Alice American Tuesday at 9 a.m. Alice beat Wylie in the first round.

Finally, the Wylie Senior Leaguers were also fighting in the elimination round.

After keeping it close, Wylie falls to Pecos 14-4 to be eliminated in the tournament.
