ABILENE, Texas -- It's football time on the McMurry campus, again.
The War Hawks and head coach Lance Hinson took the field on Thursday for practice number one.
McMurry is in their final yer of transition back into NCAA Division III, so they can play for a conference championship for the first time in a long time.
There is a buzz on the south side of Abilene, and the players are glad to be back on the field.
Brycen Homer said, It's really exciting. I've been waiting this whole past postseason for this stuff right here."
Head coach Lance Hinson added, "It's always awesome to get started. It's been such a long offseason. From last November, everything tht you day works up to this moment. When you get to get back out on the field and get things going."
Charles Smith said, "It's very exciting. We're ready to be back. Just excited to play. Basically, we are trying to get better each and every day. We are going up and up every day."
Fourteen starters are back from last season's 4-5 team.
The War Hawks are picked to finish eighth in the American Southwest Conference.
