Herman wants to be upfront & transparent

The Texas Longhorns had their first practice in pads in the Tom Herman era which is exciting for the players plus coach gets a better indication of what needs work.

Yes it's still very early, but coaches expect a lot out of their guys starting day one and never want them to let up. That's evident with Herman.

It's the first day in pads, and he's proud of the Horns, but he isn't happy or satisfied with what he sees right now. Coach Herman is sure to be up front with the guys and let 'em know.

Tom Herman said, "I don't know that I'm ever happy. That's pretty exaggerated, but you know you're proud of the guys for doing that and so, we're very honest transparent program. When they're doing well they're going to be told keep it up and get better, and when they're meeting expectations they're going to be told that too and taught how to do that."

Pretty to the point about how he feels, and obviously there's still work to be done but the season starts sooner that we think.

Texas opens up the Tom Herman era at home on September 2 against Maryland.
