RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team has been picked to finish second in the American Southwest Conference West division in a vote of the league's head vouches and sports information directors.
Mary Hardin-Baylor was picked to repeat in the ASC West Division and received 18 of the 20 first-place votes. HSU was second in the poll, followed by McMurry, Concordia, Howard Payne and Sul Ross State.
The Cowgirls went 16-13 last season and 10-4 in league play to finish a game behind the Cru. The Cowgirls will return 12 letterwinners from last year's team.
UT-Dallas was the unanimous choice for the top spot in the ASC East division. The Comets went 32-3 a year ago and won the ASC title.
Senior middle blocker Grace Schulz and junior outside hitter Allison Kuster were the HSU representatives named to the ASC players to watch list. Both were All-ASC selections a year ago.
