Cooper takes down Abilene High 49-35

The 56th annual Crosstown Showdown was certainly one for the books between Abilene High and Cooper on Friday night.
    Cooper came out explosive immediately.
The Cougars scored on their first drive with a 56 yard touchdown pass from Ender Freeman to Tyrees Whitfield, and neither Whitfield nor the Coogs stopped there.
Cooper led 14-0 at end of the first thanks to another Whitfield touchdown, and he would score twice more in the second before Abilene High finally stepped up.
Andrew Ezzell hit Raekwon Millsap in the end zone for the only Eagle touchdown until the 4th quarter.
The Cougars led 28-7 at the half.
Cooper didn't stop in the second half either. The Cougars scored three more TDs to take a 49-7 lead in the fourth, but that's when Abilene High would get it together.
Multiple high snaps over Freeman's head put the Eagles in great field position, and they capitalized on it.
Abilene High scored four touchdowns in the 4th quarter to make the final score 49-35.
The 2017 Crosstown Showdown was the Tyrees Whitfield show. He scored all seven of Cooper's touchdowns and broke a Cooper High School record of most touchdowns scored in a game by a single player.
