    CHS Conversation: Cougars are rolling

David Robinett said, "Coach Moebes, great performance by your team team last week, both offensively and defensively. The stats for offense were obvious with over 560 of offense, but defensively, you forced three turnovers. It just felt like a good overall game."

CHS head coach Todd Moebes said, "It was a good overall game. Our football team is making some big time football plays. That's what you've got to be able to do against great teams to be able to win championships. There are no championships to be won right now. It was two non-district games, but certainly, we are 2-0 and pleased with our performance and looking forward to getting better."

Robinett said, "It's Crosstown Showdown Week. There's a a whole lot of hoopla going around the campus at both schools. As a coach, you've got to make sure the players are focused and ready to play a football game. Is it easy to do with these guys, or do you kind of, 'Guys, we've got a football game?'"

Coach Moebes said, "I think it's easy to do. That's what our focus is on a weekly basis. We don't change it from one game to the next. We've got to go out there and execute in all three phases of the game. We've got to play well. Everybody's got a job to do, and they need to do their jobs. The focus is on every single play rather than all of the external things that are going on outside. We've got to keep our focus where it needs to be and that's what's being done on the field."

The Crosstown Showdown between the Abilene High Eagles and the Cooper Cougars is Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.

Cooper leads the series with 32 victories.
