AHS Conversation: Getting the first win

David Robinett said, "Better than losing, huh? Nice to get that first win under your belt."
AHS head coach Del Van Cox, "Yeah, the hard work is starting to pay off. When you get wins, everybody feels a lot better, the injuries are a lot less, and our guys kept working through it. It was a long month, but they kept working, and it's starting to pay off."
Robinett said, "Seemed like the pace of the game was just a little quicker. It seemed like everybody had a quicker step to them. Is that accurate?"
Coach Cox said, "I think being a little more comfortable in our blocking schemes, and our schemes up from on defense. I think that experience level of when you know exactly what you are going to do, things don't surprise you anymore, and you are ready to play at that fast pace."
Robinett said, "Now let's talk about moving on from here. Three losses didn't make a season, and one win doesn't make a season. How do you get them to build on this thing now?"
Coach Cox said, "The three hardest games to win every year are the first game, the first district game, and the first playoff game. In all three of those instances, everybody has new life. Everybody is zero and zero no matter what your pre-district games are. All the practice games are over now. It's time to put what you learned into play and try to go for that district crown."
