Cooper 'D' is on a roll

The Cooper Cougars offense is clicking, and it set a couple of records in the last two games.
Lost in all the offense talk is how well the defense is playing.
The Cooper "D" forced three turnovers in the opener, three more in the Grapevine game, and two more against Abilene High.
    That's eight in three games.
Compare it to last year when the Cougars didn't force any turnovers the first four weeks, and it's a remarkable number.
KJ Kelley said, "Guys go out here, and they're ready to work. They're willing to put in the work every day that we are out here, listen to what our coaches tell us, and then we just do it. That's the amazing part."
Justin Wright said, "I think we just go out there looking to get a turn over. I not saying that last we didn't try to, but during practice, we try harder to, I guess. It's like an expectation now. Then it was just kind of a bonus."
Cooper hosts Frenship on Friday at Shotwell Stadium. The Cougars beat the Tigers last year by a field goal.
