    Cowboys can grind out wins

The HSU Cowboys improved to 6-1 in ASC play on Saturday by beating Southwestern 21-7.
That win was the second game in a row the Cowboys and head coach Jesse Burleson had to grind out. It's more fun to win a game 63-7, but hanging tough and winning a close game says a lot about your team when you can win a close one.
Jesse Burleson said, "I mean anytime you look into the situation that we're playing in, there's a lot of different factors that people maybe outside the team don't really see. We knew that they were going to be tough the last couple of weeks, but it's always good to have those because you never know how a team's going to respond in a tough situation until they're in them, and we've been in them and responded well and got the wins, so yeah we're definitely pleased."
Matthew Hawkins said, "In those kind of games it shows what kind of team we are. It's not just one side of the ball that's donig all the work. It's a team game, so when our defense is struggling or something, the offense has our back and vice versa as well."
The Cowboys play at Shelton Stadium for the final time in the regular season on Saturday.
They take on Belhaven at 1 p.m.
