The Breckenridge Buckaroos had a tough start to their season. They lost all five non district games, but in those losses they learned a whole lot about their team, and now they're starting district exactly the way they wanted to, 3-0.
Casey Hubble said, "One thing it did was, it exposed every weakness we had. There's no rolling into week seven and somebody attacking you and you not realizing you're not good at tackling a good tailback. Whether we win or lose, we're going to try to find a way to learn and get better."
Riley Durham said, "We realized who wants it and who doesn't want it, and we just realized that the people that wanted it are going to be the reason that we win the games that we win."
Chucky Perez said, "We decided to just come together as a team, and we figured what a better time to start district 3-0.
Durham said, "In non district we were exposed to a new offense, and we really didn't get the hang of it at first, but I think once district came around we had enough time rolling around and we finally got it rolling."
Hubble said, "Our kids never wavered. Nobody was having much fun, but that's alright you know, football's a lot like life, it's not always fun, so it definitely showed a lot of our character and what type of kids we have."
Last season week 10 kind of snuck up on the Buckaroos. They went into the Ponder game with some pretty big heads, and it ended up hurting them, but they do not plan on making the same mistakes this year.
