    Coronado tops Coogs 34-31 to claim title

    Qua Gray's big night helped lead Lubbock Coronado to a 34-31 victory to claim the outright district championship.
    The Mustangs started the game by scoring the first ten points of the game.
    The touchdown coming on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Qua Gray to Blair Conwright. The Mustangs led 10-0 after the first quarter.
    Cooper woke up in the 2nd quarter. Tyrees Whitfield exploded for 71 yards and a touchdown to cut the lead to 10-7.
    The Cougars special teams made a play on the ensuing kickoff. They recover the pooch kick at 21 yard line, and the offense scores to take the lead on a 14 yard touchdown pass from Ender Freeman to Myller Royals.
    The Cougars added a field goal off another turnover, but Coronado answered. Gray hit Caden Hensley on a slant late in the first half for a 29 yard score.
    The game was tied at 17 at the half.
    Cooper jumped out to the lead in the third quarter. Freeman scores from 5 yards out to make it 24-17.
    Coronado scored 17 of the next 24 points to finish the game and kick a 37 yard field goal with three seconds to go for the win.
    Qua Gray topped 400 yards passing for the Coronado Mustangs.
    Tyrees Whitfield rushed for 218 yards for Cooper.
    Cooper finishes the regular season 7-3 and starts the playoffs next week in Frenship against either Hereford or Plainview.
