The Abilene Christian Panthers dominated Ovilla Christian on Saturday night at Shotwell Stadium.
The Panthers ran the ball at will and ended the game by the 45-point mercy rule at halftime.
What a difference a year makes.
The Panthers program was struggling just to get in the playoffs in 2016.
This year, with new head coach Jim Holloway leading the charge, ACHS is a district champ and rolling into the second round.
Holloway said, "The change has been unbelievable. I asked people, 'Coming in if I said we were going to win a district championship this year,' because they struggled the several years, 'would you believe it?' They didn't think so, but we knew halfway into this deal we were going to be a solid team. We've got a lot of athletes. If we can get them integrated into the system we are trying to run, and figure out where they need to play."
San Jacinto Christian from Amarillo is next for the Panthers on Saturday in Ralls.
They played earlier this year and San Jacinto won, 102-97.
