ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University Athletics teams will be sporting a new look in the future, as the department has announced the signing of an apparel agreement with Adidas that will make the world-renowned company the official outfitter of the War Hawks’ programs. The agreement with Adidas will also allow McMurry Athletics to continue its decades-long relationship, locally, with Athletic Supply as the school’s vendor.
McMurry Director of Athletics Sam Ferguson worked with coaches, scholar-athletes, and administrators to receive feedback on all options. Once all proposals were considered, the product quality, variety of maroon-colored gear and service that Adidas offered, moved them to the top of the list. Adidas representative Mike Cloud - along with Mike Forrester and Ronnie Flowers at Athletic Supply - created what will be a great situation for the War Hawks’ teams. The move will provide a consistent look for all of McM’s teams, with a brand that virtually everyone recognizes, which is an important aspect in recruiting.
The deal will have the War Hawks outfitted in Adidas gear from head-to-toe. The four-year agreement will have an annual value of more than $50,000 to the McMurry program. The contract will go into effect on June 1, 2018.
“At McMurry, we ‘Develop Champions for Life’ and excellence is one of our core values,” Ferguson explained. “The Adidas brand is synonymous with excellence and will be a nice complement to our staff’s work of developing champions. Without a doubt, the scholar-athletes are the biggest winners of this new relationship. We couldn’t be more pleased to move forward with Adidas as the official gear of the War Hawks.”
