    Albany back in quarterfinals

The Albany Lions are back in the 4th round of the playoffs after a year absence.
Mary Margaret went over the talk to the Lions about getting back as they prepare to face top ranked Muenster.
The Albany Lions are back in the state quarterfinals for the 8th time in the last 10 years.
"There's not but 8 teams left in our division, so when you get down to this close and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, Denney Faith said. "The kids are excited, practices are a little more enthusiastic, intensity level goes up a little bit, so it's fun."
This year is a little bit different for the Lions. Last season, they got knocked out in the third round by the eventual state finalists Iraan.
"It's always good to make it further than you did last year," Nolan Davis said. "Last year was kind of disappointing, so hopefully we can make it all the way this year."
The Albany Lions are a football program that's used to having a lot of success in the playoffs, as you can tell by their state championships back in the 60s.
But when the weather gets colder and the practices get longer, sometimes it can get hard to get guys motivated for the game each week.
But not for the Lions. Each playoff victory brings them a little bit closer to achieving their goal: a state championship.
"The colder it gets, the better it feels because you just know how far you're making it," Henry Kelly said.
"It never gets old because it's just an honor to get to play and have such a great town supporting you and a great school supporting you, and just all the history behind it definitely."
"It's always a goal to try and make it to state, but it's always good to just get there and keep playing," Davis said. "It's just fun to keep playing football right now."
Albany faces their biggest test of the season on Friday. The number two ranked Lions match up with number one ranked Muenster to determine who's the best team in Region 2.
