RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons’ men’s basketball team could not overcome a cold-shooting night and lost 96-49 to UT Dallas in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activity center.
UTD took advantage of the Cowboys’ shooting woes and went on a 23-4 run midway through the first half as the Cowboys missed 13-of-14 shots during the run.
The Cowboys were never able to make a run at the Comets and finished the night shooting just 14-of-57 (24.6 percent). On the other hand, the Comets were on fire and shot 50.7 percent for the night and hit 11 3-pointers.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak against the Comets, one of their top rivals in the ASC.
Keenan Holdman had 13 points to pace the Cowboys and Dimitrius Underwood and Kelden Pruitt had 16 points each for UTD.
The Cowboys are now 3-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play. UTD improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in ASC play. HSU will be off until it plays Cornell College in the Colorado College Classic on Dec. 29 in Colorado Springs.
