Lubbock Monterey had to work for it, but in the end, the boys and the girls both came away from their games against Cooper with victories.
The Cooper boys fall, 63-55. They entered the night looking to stop a 2-game losing streak, and they held the lead after the first quarter.
Monterey answered before halftime by outscoring the Cougars by 9 points to lead at halftime, 26-18.
Cooper flipped the script in the third quarter. They dominated and took a 35-33 lead into the final frame.
That turned out to the the Plainsmen best quarter of the game. They scored 30 points and held Cooper to 20. Monterey takes it, 63-55.
The Lady Plainsmen beat the Lady Cougars in the first game of the night at Cougar Gym, 69-57.
Monterey outscored Cooper in the opening quarter, 23-9, to set the tone of the first half. The second quarter was a little better, but the Plainsmen led by 10 at the half.
Cooper came on strong in the third quarter to pull to within five points by the time the final period started, but the Lady Cougars couldn't catch Monterey as they pulled away in the 4th.
