    Cowgirls ready for ASC Tournament

The HSU Cowgirls are in the metroplex for Thursday's opening game of the American Southwest Conference tournament.
Head coach Melanie Chonko and her team earned their berth with a victory over crosstown rival McMurry in the season finale on Saturday.
They finished fourth in the West Division of the ASC and are 6-19 this season.
    None of that matters now.
If you win, you move on. If you lose, you go home.
Head coach Melanie Chonko said, "Our seniors and upperclassmen are excited to get to the tournament and experience that atmosphere. We are bringing our freshmen, as well, to see what it's all about. The big thing about the tournament is it doesn't matter how you got there or what your record is coming in or your seed or anything like that. It's that time of year where anybody can go down on any given day. For us that's encouraging."
Heidi Schroeder said, "Going into the tournament, we know their place. They know our place. It's nothing new. It's nothing fancy. We just have to go in there and execute. It's kind of the beauty of basketball. You just have to go in there and get it done."
The Cowgirls open the ASC Tournament on Thursday night in Richardson against East Division champion UT-Dallas  at 7:30pm.
