The Houston Texans will switch from grass to artificial turf at NRG Stadium for the rest of the season, the team announced Friday.
Texans general manager Rick Smith said the team began contemplating a change following the opener vs. Kansas City last Sunday. He said they hope to have a new grass system ready for the 2016 season.
"We're very proud of our field over the years, as far as safety and injury rates, but the field condition is not up to par this year," Smith said.
We'll post more details here as they become available.
